New digital kit coming soon – Spooktacular!

Posted by DeAnna

spooktacular-sneak-peek

I’ve been working on a new kit for the last couple of days.  I intended for it to be a small mini(ish) kit, but it’s kind of spiralled a little bigger than that!  Here’s a sneak peek:

I should have it done this weekend.  Now I have to make cupcakes and carve some pumpkins!  Who else is planning on using some of the new Silhouette designs for carving their pumpkins???  I’m so excited!  I think I might plan ahead for next halloween and use the positionable skeleton for my door ;-D.

Happy Halloween!!

Another Freebie!

Posted by DeAnna

So, just a reminder that the contest for a $10.00 gift certificate from Two Peas In a Bucket is almost over.  A winner will be chosen from all comments posted by noon Pacific time, Monday October 26.  The winner will be announced Monday by 5 pm Pacific.  Just a quick note, this contest is sponsored by me, not by Two Peas In a Bucket.  Once a winner is chosen, the gift certificate will be emailed to them.

I did another digital layout with my Overcome digital kit.  A few days ago, my oldest son, Kyle, was refusing to pick up some of his toys.  He turned around, stepped on one of his many Lightning McQueen cars, and fell flat on his face.  He had a pretty good bruise and bump on his chin, but he also cut his lip pretty good too.  He let daddy take a few pictures, and I knew I had to document it (of course, what scrapbooking mom wouldn’t, I ask?).  Thank goodness he didn’t have to have stitches again (that’s for a future post coming soon – I’m still scanning in some older layouts I haven’t posted yet).

Here is the layout I did:

AND, I decided to make it into a template as well.  You can download the template here:

A scrapbook wedding album…

Posted by DeAnna

brandon_album2

I finished this album for my brother in April, but with the computer issues I had with my old laptop, I didn’t have a chance to scan them in with my new scanner I got for Mother’s Day.  You may have seen my previous posts about my brother Brandon’s wedding in January, 2008 here and here.

I’m very happy with this album.   I kept the layouts simple, without too much fuss.  I used my Silhouette for most of the accent pieces, like the cake and the phrase Wedding Day.  There aren’t many pictures of Eden’s family simply because I hadn’t met any of them at the time of the wedding, and I didn’t know who was who.

Today, I finally finished the photo insert in the cover of the album, which makes it really done and ready to be sent to the happy couple.  I had planned to have it ready for their first anniversary in January – terrible, I know.  I’m such a terrible procrastinator and I really have to force myself to do the things that need to be done.  I’m glad i’m finally starting to catch up to all my outstanding projects and get them done.

Anyway, here are all the layouts I did for the album (click on the image to enlarge):

A comparison…

Posted by DeAnna

I’ve been going through some photographs in a box which contained some of my grandfather’s photos.  He passed away in 2006, when I was 5 1/2 months pregnant with my first child.  I miss him.  The photos in the box are amazing and I’ll share them in a future post very soon.  One of the photos has fascinated me though.  I never knew my grandfather had this picture and I am transfixed.  Here’s wny:  I was probably about 8 or 9 months old, and the similarities between me and my son Matthew in this picture is amazing.  Here’s a photo of my son which I have shown before.  I love his eyes!  He’s such a cutie.

And now, my photo:

me

Oh dear.  Hmmm…well, ummm.  Okay, moving on.  And a closer look:

Go ahead, laugh.  I did!  My mother has a larger framed copy which used to hang in our living room, but I haven’t seen it in years.  Anyone else see the similarities?  He even has my hairline!

This is one of the reasons I scrapbook.  Most of the photos in the box are completely foreign to me.  I have no idea who most of the people in them are since my grandfather rarely spoke about family and his childhood.  But, in these photos, I see similarities like these.

P.S.:  remember to make a comment to win a $10.00 gift certificate to Two Peas In a Bucket!!  One lucky winner will be chosen at random from all comments posted by Monday, October 26, at 12:00 pm Pacific.

Free Digital Scrapbooking Kit – Overcome

Posted by DeAnna

Overcome Digital Scrapbooking Kit

Well, here it is finally.  I’ve had some network access issues today so it took me longer than I had hoped to get everything together and put it up for downloading.  I’m super excited about this kit.  I hope you will all enjoy it!  I’ve had to split it up into two parts.

Click here to download the paper pack, and here to download the elements.

Just a quick note – this is for personal use only, no commercial use please.

I would love to see what you do with it, so please post a link to your gallery in the comments section.  I did a quick layout using the kit and my latest favorite picture of our family.  It was nice to do some digi scrapbooking again too.  I haven’t done enough of it lately ;-D

I also have planned a monthly giveaway, and I’ll provide more details this coming Monday.

Next on the agenda is to finish Brush*Abilities.  then I’ll finally be caught up on Jessica Sprague, and I can think about the next course I want to take ;-D  My husband will be thrilled…  Now if only I could find the desk in my den, I could scan some layouts on my new scanner.  It’s never ending isn’t it?

The Corn Maze…and a preview

Posted by DeAnna

So we took our two children to the Pitt Meadows Corn Maze last weekend.  It’s always fun, but it was better this year since Kyle was much more interested in the other attractions.  He actually petted some goats and bunnies and showed interest rather than fear this year.  He loved playing in the haystack, and amazingly…rode a pony!  I wasn’t sure he would get on it, but he did.

Chantelle is our neighbor’s daughter and she was working that day at the corn maze so we managed to finally get a family shot, which rarely happens unless we schedule a photo shoot!  It’s a great picture of us (thanks, Chantelle!)

I’ve been working hard on my kit which is, sadly, extremely overdue.  So far I’ve created 21 papers, 2 overlays, an alpha, 2 chipboard frames, 2 chipboard pieces, and 3 elements.  I’m working on a couple more elements, and maybe one or two word art, and then I’ll put it up.  Oh, and did I mention it will be FREE???  Yay.  Anyway, here’s a sneak peek ;-P

I’m so excited!
