Post-Olympic blues…
I decided to just enjoy the experience of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, and I apologize for not blogging much lately. We managed to go downtown a total of 4 times, three times with the kids, and once on our own (oh, and was that an experience in itself!). It was amazing to see all the Canadian flags and shirts and frequent bursts of “O Canada” everywhere. We even had the pleasure of experiencing the native animals in downtown Vancouver when a large, disgusting rat decided to jump into the bottom of our stroller one day! Yes, I said a RAT!!!! Yuk. I had to take my stroller apart bleach it down (with colour safe bleach), and then throw as much of it in the wash as I possibly could. EWWWWWW! I refused to put either child into the bottom seat of our stroller (the Phil & Ted’s E3 with the second seat attachment) so we had to hold Matthew or have Kyle on daddy’s shoulders the rest of the day. We were glued to the tv every day watching the events and cheering on our athletes. I was so proud of our ice dance team of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir winning Canada’s first ever gold medal in ice dance and of Joannie Rochette showing such strength in winning a bronze medal only days after her mother suddenly passed away. We were actually at a victory ceremony when we heard that Alex Bilodeau had won Canada it’s first gold medal on Canadian soil EVER! The crowd cheered so loudly and for so long it was an incredible feeling.
We even got to go to the opening ceremonies of the Paralympics on Friday. That was so much fun, and I cried when they told the Terry Fox story and when his parents came in with the torch. It was an experience I’ll never forget, and I’ll have to scrapbook it for Kyle and Matthew so they can have a record of this amazing time in our city and our country. I have been so proud to be Canadian, in a way I’ve never experienced before, and all because of the spirit the olympics and paralympics have brought out in us. I’m sad that it will all be over soon.
What makes me happy is that the annual Photo Express crop is coming up in less than two weeks now and I’m busy preparing a ton of layouts to be done that day. I’m so behind in scrapbooking it’s crazy. I just want to pump out as much as I can and just get it done ;D It’s going to be a fun day and I can’t wait! I promise to blog again before then and show you what I’m planning.
I had also promised a freebie, but I’ve been having trouble getting together the project I was working on, so I’ll be posting a template soon instead.
Have a great day!
