Kevin & Kylee’s wedding album…

Posted by DeAnna

Another quick post to show you the album I created for Kevin and Kylee’s anniversary (which I was actually early for!  It’s not until June ;D).  I am very happy with how this album turned out, I think I went out of my box a bit and used some embellishments I hadn’t ever used before. Then I made a card to go with the album and got a chance to use my Copic markers (which I am totally addicted to ;D!!!)  Without further ado, presenting….

Some of the scans don’t do justice to the layouts.  The flower I created to look like the flower in Kylee’s hair looks much prettier in real life, it looks a bit dull in the scanned image. I used acrylic pieces on the inside cover page and inked them with ColorBox chalk inks. I love the dimension it created on the page and how it highlighted the photo of Kevin and Kylee during the ceremony. I recolored the word art from Jessica Sprague in Photoshop to match the colors I knew I would be using before I printed the photo. I did that with a bunch of photos actually, look closely and you’ll see which ones I’m talking about. I used some clear embossing over different colored inks, and some fun die cuts using my silhouette. I wish I had my Copics before I started the album – I might have done a few images with some coloring ;D

You can also look at my Flickr gallery here if you want to see the products list.  I’ll do a post about my favourite layout from this album in a few days.  I’ve wanted to do a layout like this for a while and I’m so glad I finally got the chance to do it ;D

Template #6 – FREEBIE!!!

Posted by DeAnna

Quick post today. As promised, here is my next template for downloading. I was thinking you could have a main photo (it’s 4×6) and either two smaller pictures or a couple of pieces of patterned paper. The smaller masks are 3×4. I haven’t had time to do up an example for you, hopefully shortly. Just remember that my templates are for personal use only, please! Enjoy and have fun playing. I’d love to see your work, so link up in the comments ;D

LOVEly doodles ;D and Quick Tip #1

Posted by DeAnna

I finally finished a whole page of doodles that I had so much fun with!  The theme was love, so there’s hearts, bumble bees, butterflies, a couple of photo frames, a few word sayings in my handwriting (which I think is horrible but what can you do!), and a couple of birds.  I’m not great at doodling, it’s not really one of my talents, but I thought I would offer it up so people could use some of the doodles if they wanted to.  You can download the file here.

Quick tip on using some of the doodles – you can select a drawing with your magic wand, but if there are elements that aren’t connected, you’d be better off using your Marquee tool and drawing a selection around what you want OR your Lasso tool if items are too close together.  Once you have your selection made, command + J/CTRL + J to make a new layer.  The items in your selection will be copied to a new layer!  Then, click on Window, Arrange, Tile and you can then drag the new layer you created onto your layout or other document.  EASY!

These doodles are for personal use only, have fun with them and link up your work so I can see!

I have a template that I’ve been working on that I’ll have finished and up for downloading in a few days (to celebrate 100+ downloads of my kits and templates!).  PLUS – we finally gave the album I was working on to our friends last night.  It was a huge hit and they’ve given me permission to post pics of the layouts!  I’ll have those up this week too.

Road trip layout

Posted by DeAnna

Lesson1_TabletBasics

I have been finally getting to my pen tablet class at JessicaSprague.com and this is the first layout we did for the class. I am very happy with the layout AND that I finally got to scrapbook at least a little bit of our trip in 2002 to Colorado to visit my father and family. This was my first “road trip” that I took (aside from band trips and driving less than a day to Seattle ;D). You may notice the bottom picture in the layout – yes that is a close up of a buffalo at Yellowstone. It was right next to my window and I swear the only thing going through my mind (other than holy crap!!) was that if this guy got mad at me taking his pic, all he had to do was swing his head and that horn would come crashing through my window!! The journaling says: “1 province, 6 states, 10 days; A fantastic visit with family far away; 2 baseball games at Coors Field; A visit to Yellowstone National Park; 1 close encounter with a buffalo – PRICELESS!!”

Next on the class agenda is doodling – so fun. I’m discovering some talents I didn’t know I had ;D I just might have a LOVEly (hint hint) .png download on Sunday.

On another note, I finally jumped on the Copic bandwagon… I love their markers and am already having a blast colouring with them. I only wish my LSS carried the Sketch markers, but they only carry the originals and the Ciao.  I have a fairly small hand and I find the originals a bit big but they are still fabulous ;D  I might have to buy some sketch colours when we go to the states in the summer…

Some new stuff soon…

Posted by DeAnna

Well, I’ve been getting crafty lately and at the crop I managed to get almost an entire 8×8 album completed (8 of 11 layouts complete) but I didn’t get to work on any of my own layouts.  The good thing though is that I have 4 other layouts ready to work on and finish as I have time!  I’ll be scanning in my album soon but I can’t show it off until after we’ve given it to it’s recipient!  Might be a week or two.  In the meantime, I am working on a new template and my Christmas 2007 layout – it’s coming along nicely and I’m almost finished with it.

I’ve been trying some new techniques with colouring and inking and stamping that I haven’t done before.  I’m really into paper these days and I haven’t been doing as much digital stuff, but I think that will change soon.  I seem to go in cycles, digital during the summer/fall, paper around Christmas with cards and stuff, and more paper as I begin preparing for the PE crop in March/April.

I think my computer is sending me a message since Photoshop is acting very slow these days.  I think it’s trying to tell me that I need to shuffle some stuff to my external hard drive!  ;D

We are in the middle of planning for a birthday party – Matthew will be 1 in just over a month!  I can’t believe it’s gone so fast!!!  He’s growing so much and is so adorable.  I think the theme will be baseball related, and I have an idea for a really cool cake using my Silhouette as a template – I’m excited!

At any rate, I haven’t completely fallen off the grid, and I’ll be back soon with some new stuff … but I’ll leave you with a photo I took last year in Osoyoos.  It had just started to get cloudy and the sun was streaming through the clouds.  It was one of those images you would see in inspirational calendars.  I worked it a bit in Photoshop, added some brushes from House of 3 (which of course I got from the class downloads from JS (Photoshop Special Effects and Frame Ups) and a quote.  I love it because we were at a wedding and about 10 minutes later it started to drizzle and by the time we had moved the wedding reception indoors, the rain had stopped.  They say a wet bride is a lucky bride…
