My boys…
Sorry for the late post today. Kyle’s first day of preschool was today and I’ve been trying to get the photos of the layout below just right, so it’s been a little busy here ;D
I am at 197 downloads of my digi stuff which you can find HERE and HERE!! When I reach 200 I will be posting my mini kit that I completed for the Art of Digital Design class at JessicaSprague.com. It will have 6 papers and 6 elements. I have way more papers than that, and several other elements in the works, so I will be posting a full kit for sale in the near future. You’ll be hearing more about that in the next few days when I’ve gotten everything set up. ;D Don’t worry, though, there will still be freebies available on my blog, and new freebies from time to time too
I completed another layout this past weekend. I decided to switch to doing mostly one-page layouts, with the occasional double page layout when I have too many photos. I think I’ll get more layouts done that way. And, I have to tell you it’s so much easier to layer when you’re working with one page!! See what I mean:
All of the papers are Fancy Pants from the My Family line. I used the papers called Father, Son and Family Tree. The title is plain white cardstock from my stash (stuff that I have been given while at crops or classes and I’m not sure what brand they are). I cut it out with my Silhouette (I used the text feature and created my own title). I inked it with Chocolate Ancient Page ink and then sprayed them with perfect pearls. I cut out a background and the funky circles from images I downloaded from the Silhouette store. I used two of my EK Success border punches (Okay, I’ll admit it – I only have two! ;D). I love the embossed bracket border punch, and the notebook paper punch as well.
I made the flower with my Silhouette, cut out the images, spritzed them with water, scrunched them up, then unfolded them and let them dry. Then I inked a bit with Faded Jeans distress Ink, sprayed with a bit of blending solution and let it dry again. The I sprayed each flower with Perfect Pearls and let them dry again. Lastly, I punched a hole in the middle of each layer with my paper piercer and then put a jeweled brad through all the layers. To make the frilly ribbon and the other flowers, I simply had some really soft, almost suede-like ribbon and I took some of my DMC floss, strung a running stitch through it, and voila! Frilly ribbon. It likes to curl up on itself so I took some of it and made them into pinwheel flowers. You can do it with almost any fabric, or even a thin felt.
Lastly, I added a Tim Holts tiny paper clip to the note paper and that was it!
I am super happy with this layout (I say that a lot, but this has to be my favorite layout right now!). Thanks for looking ;D
DeAnna
