New holiday card…

Posted by DeAnna

I made this card last night late, really late!  I finished working at midnight and stayed up until almost 1:30.  Boy did I want to keep sleeping this morning!  But I absolutely love it!  I have seen a number of people using wide ribbon and ruffling it and adhereing it to a card.  I think it looks really neat and adds such great depth and texture to the card.  Not exactly good for mailing though, so this will go to someone special ;D

First I die cut some Neenah card stock then stamped the polar bear (isn’t he cute?).  I colored him in with Copics.  I stamped the polar bear onto a sticky note and cut it out and placed it over the colored image to act as a mask.  Then took a Hero Arts border stamp and stamped it multiple times using Versamark.  I heat embossed with clear embossing powder and then inked the edges and lightly in the center and took care not to get any over the polar bear.  Then I removed the mask and inked the edges a little darker to give it more depth.  Next I dealt with the card base.  I inked the Hero Arts background flourish with distress ink, then spritzed it with water to dilute it and give it a softer feel.  Then I stamped it on the front of the card base and spritzed lightly with perfect pearls.  I stamped the sentiment using my Hero Arts markers, and colored just the snowflake with the distress ink, then lightly breathed on it right before stamping to reactivate the ink.  I punched out the sentiment with my EK Success circle punch, distressed it with my Tim Holtz distresser and inked the edges with silver colorbox ink and faded jeans distress ink.  I decided I needed something else and was looking at my ribbon and saw some blue satin seam binding I’ve had forever and decided to cut it in half and use it on the bottom of the card.  I put adhesive on the back with my American Crafts this and that permanent adhesive roller (which I love, by the way) and then just crinkled/ruffled it as I was placing it on the card.  I adhered the die cut panel over it, placed the circle and added a button and a silver star with some embroidery floss.

The little bear and sentiment are both from Imaginisce (I don’t know if you can get them online anywhere, I think they are from a past collection – I got them from my local scrapbooking store).  I love how they package just one stamp that coordinates with their paper lines and they are super cheap.  I’ll be buying these often ;D  My stamp collection is certainly growing!

Back in a day or two with some more projects.
