Christmas wrap up…
I thought over the next week or so I would show some of the presents I made this year for friends and family. In total I made 6 mini albums (four for us to give away, and two commissioned albums for a co-worker of my mom’s to give away), a necklace, 4 hair clips, 2 canvasses, 4 8×8 page layouts, and a coffee mug cozy. I was very happy with how all of them turned out and they were well received by everyone. I’m bummed though that I didn’t get any pics of the four mini albums I made, I ran out of time and had to send them out before I could take pictures. They were very much like this one, though.
I’ll start with the necklace I made. Click on the image to view larger photo.
I saw one while shopping for some presents and I thought to myself “I can make one of those” and, well, I did! Never mind the fact that I have never made jewelry before… I was so happy with the way it turned out and Rob’s sister, Christine, loved it. I made the flower with fabric and layered the “petals” then added a button to the center. I used two different kinds of chain. In total there are three lengths of chain, two of one kind that are intertwined slightly and another with different sized hoops which is slightly shorter than the other two lengths of chain. I added a few beads here and there and that was pretty much it. I love it and I’m planning on making a few more similar ones for sale. Here are some close ups:
I seriously don’t know where all this creativity is coming from. Lately it seems that I see something and I think that I can do it and somehow it turns out the way I picture it in my head. I suppose that the more you create, the more creativity is fostered and grows. I have discovered that I’m okay with small imperfections. I’m not fussing over little tiny details and am just getting things done. Subconsciously those fine details that make a layout or a project complete seem to be falling into place easily. Maybe it’s just practice makes perfect (although my creations are far from perfect and that’s okay too – isn’t that what handmade is about?). I loved doing each project and they are all so different (especially the two canvasses as you will see…). I’ll be back in a few days with another project to share.
