They did it!!!

Posted by DeAnna

Okay, so this post will have nothing to do with scrapbooking (okay maybe at the end!), so I hope you will all forgive me ;D  I don’t mention it often – maybe never on the blog – but our house is a huge Vancouver Canucks house.  My son Kyle’s bedroom is painted in Canucks blue and green, a Canucks logo wallpaper border, life-sized stickers of Roberto Luongo, and a life-sized Roberto Luongo growth chart on his wall.  He wants a new jersey (since he’s growing out of his old one) with Luongo’s number on the back of it.  He wants to be a goalie and when he is at hockey practicing passing, he receives a pass in a goalie butterfly.  Have I mentioned that he’s 4?

Last night was do or die.  Game 7, round one, against their nemesis the Chicago Blackhawks, who have ousted them from the playoffs the last two years.  After squandering a 3-0 series lead, it came down to one game.  In overtime.  Burrows, in a major heads-up play to redeem himself from sitting in the penalty box seconds into the overtime period, scores the game-winning goal.  The hero of the game, scoring Vancouver’s only two goals of the night, uplifted this city in the blink of an eye.  Going into the overtime period he said that in the room they talked about how this, THIS was where legends were made.  A legendary goal.  On Monday night before going to bed I saw THIS video.  It perfectly sums up what that game was all about…  I was so nervous I couldn’t actually watch any of the game.  I managed to stay in the room but I had to distract myself or I would have probably been sick!  Even still it was a nerve wracking game but I’m glad that one’s over.  On to Round 2!!

Oh, and I’m excited that this weekend is a spectacular event where I get to scrapbook for three days.  Woo hoo!!  Unfortunately, my husband will have to work, but he has to take the boys in with him ;D  I need a break and I’m super happy I will be getting one!  Also, at the beginning of June I am going to be in Kelowna taking my Copic Certification!  Yay!!  Sherrie Siemens is the instructor and if you haven’t checked out her blog you definitely should.  I love using my Copics but I haven’t done it often enough lately so I’m going to be practicing a ton before June.  But I will definitely feel more comfortable teaching classes with Copic coloring in them after the certification, so look for some classes from me at Precious Memories probably starting in August.  That’s it, just a quick catch up…

May Class Calendar

Posted by DeAnna

The May class calendar for Precious Memories is up – check it out!  I have four classes in May – a card class (Lawn Fawn All Occasion cards), two layout classes (a hidden journaling class and another  with a modern take on some classics) and a mini album (for Mother’s Day).  My classes are on Thursday, May 5, Wednesday May 11, Thursday May 26 and  Saturday May 28.

My first class on Thursday went well and I learned a lot for future classes so it was a great experience.  I think I floated home I was so happy!  Thanks to everyone who came out for my very first class ;D

Oh, and I’m curious – any thoughts on classes you would like to see in the future?  Would you prefer to learn new techniques or get a bunch of projects done all at once?  If I have a lot of comments I might create a poll…  And don’t forget to subscribe using your RSS or Google Reader!

Tuesday Trigger

Posted by DeAnna

I thought that this week I would play along with the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger.  It’s a great photo:

Here’s the card I came up with:

I am in love!  When I looked at the trigger photo I was thinking it looked inviting and warm, someplace I would love to sit down and enjoy a good conversation.  I loved the hits of red, and the ornate mirror.  I didn’t stick with the color scheme too closely, but I really wanted to create the feeling I got looking at the photo in my card.  I felt like hello was a good invite (mostly because I don’t really have a “Welcome” stamp!).  The stamp is from Hero Arts called Congrats that I picked up yesterday at Precious Memories.  I inked it with Distress Ink in Fired Brick, the Hello (from the same set) is in Walnut Stain, and over that I inked Antique Linen to give it the same feel as the papers. Then I cut it out and roughed it up very gently with my finger, it’s hard to tell in the photo though.  I LOVE the MME Stella & Rose line, especially Mabel and Hattie.  These are from Mabel.  I used my 6×6 paper pad for this card.  I ruffled some sheer ribbon from my stash and added some butcher’s twine to the hello cut out.  Then I felt like it needed something up top so I added one of the Hattie stickers and layered two buttons over it.  I adore the little blue flower button!  So cute.

Head on over to the Moxie Fab World site to check out the other entries!

Today’s the day!!

Posted by DeAnna

My first class is tonight and it is completely full!  I’m nervous but excited – can’t wait!  I have a bit to do before then, packing the materials for the class, and finishing up another project.  Busy, busy!

I thought I would quickly share another layout I did about my two boys – all using Jillibean Soup products and some EK Success punches.  Love Jillibean Soup’s kraft paper lines ;D

Here’s a quick card I created as well:

DSC_8626 Stamps are Stampendous.  I used some EK Success border punches, and some circle punches to create the flower.  It’s hard to see in the photo but I added some glossy accents around the flower and sprinkled some Pink Paislee chunky glitter onto it.  Gives it just enough sparkle.

Sweet…

I created this layout recently and I totally love it:

I used Jillibean Soup’s Pasta Fagioli collection to create this layout of my two boys at Yellowstone.  We were waiting for Old Faithful and they were so cute.  I used Tattered Angels Candy Apple Red glimmer mist and some of the scalloped border stickers to create the banners, and once I had sprayed I moved the stickers to create the negative banner.  I used that to perch my title onto the layout.  I was totally inspired by a cake I saw on Pinterest:

Isn’t it gorgeous?? I love the layers of the cake and the distressed edges, so I applied that to my layout.

Here are a few close ups of my layout:

If you  haven’t heard of Pinterest you should check it out.  It’s a great place to “pin” things you love that you find on the internet.  Even just going through the  “everything” tab I find cool stuff that I probably would never have found before.  It’s addictive though – I could get lost for hours looking through it.  You can get on the waiting list or ask for an invite.  Check it out!  Here’s a screen shot of my Pinterest boards:

They have been having a blog hop all week and there are a ton of prizes up for grabs!  Make sure you check it out!

Just a quick post tonight.  Gotta get class submissions in this evening.  I finished one layout last night that I’m super happy with – I even did a happy dance when I looked at the finished project ;D  Classes for May will include a card class with American Crafts paper and Lawn Fawn stamps, two layout classes (one including tips on hidden journaling, the other a modern take on a classic design), and a last minute Mother’s Day gift – a hand-bound mini album! As usual I’ll link you up when the schedule is released…

Have a great day – Kyle has his first baseball game tomorrow morning, and team photos too!  Have to be at the ball park at 7:45 a.m.!!  Yikes!!
