A catch up…
It’s been a while since I posted. Had two sick kids and then got sick myself. I was sick the weekend of the big spectactular held by Precious Memories last weekend (and only got three of my own layouts done – seriously – 30 hours of scrapbooking and I got three layouts done), and then I finally started feeling better this weekend. Thankfully I felt halfway normal for Mother’s Day. We spent the day together in Langley at Olive Garden and then did a tiny bit of shopping (looking at new carpet since we are in the painting stage in one of the basement rooms finally!) and then came home and did some more painting ;D The kids got to play outside and make mud puddles – Grandma actually had to pour water out of Matthew’s boots! They enjoyed it but it certainly didn’t tire them out – they have way too much energy!

I’ve been practicing my Copic coloring (for certification next month) and whipped up this little card tonight – I am very happy with how she turned out. (I took the photo with my iPhone just after finishing it so it’s not the best pic…) This little fairy is the Summer Fairy at The Greeting Farm – the current challenge sponsor at Lily Pad Cards. I totally fell in love with her and the Spring Fairy. They are both digi so I bought and downloaded them and printed them onto some Neenah Solar White cardstock. I really have to remember to get some of the Copic paper that Precious Memories stocks – it really is fabulous and I loved coloring on it when I took a class a few months ago. Maybe on Wednesday when I teach another class… I used some of the Stella and Rose Hattie and Mabel 6×6 papers from My Mind’s Eye and die cut the woodgrain using Spellbinders Labels 1 large die. I also was totally inspired by Vicky’s card on Lily Pad Cards for Mother’s Day with the ribbon tied with string and a button. I’ve been wanting to do that for a while and keep forgetting. Figured this was the perfect time ;D I haven’t taken a picture of the copics I used but I will – I have them all out on my desk still. I used a lot of colors as I didn’t have the exact colors I needed so I had to blend a couple to get the tone I wanted. I really liked using the very light cool gray tones for her hair. Plus, I didn’t want to use browns and I don’t have enough yellows to make blond hair ;D I really need more markers! I also only have one skin tone color so I colored around the edges and the curves of her skin and then used the tip to tip technique to fill some of her skin in. Then used the colorless blender by itself to gently soften the hard lines. I like how it looks in the end and it’s a good work around when you only have one color!
I taught a mini album class on Thursday last week – it went well and I’m happy with the reception I’ve been getting at the store. Another class is coming up on Wednesday – Lawn Fawn All Occasion Cards. I adore Lawn Fawn and I paired it with Hello Sunshine from American Crafts – together they are gorgeous!
I’ll take pictures of the layouts I completed last weekend and one I haven’t shown you from February and post them soon. Hope all you mothers out there had a fabulous day!
